the skinny on me

Hey y'all, I'm Juliana. I'm a coffee-addicted college student living in an apartment by the Pacific Ocean. My floors are strewn with textbooks and every Tolkien work ever published. My head is in coding and economics, but my heart is in the forests, the ocean, the mountains, and in books.

As for the name of my blog, years ago I got this butterfly tattoo.

The significance of it lies in the contrast between the permanence of a tattoo and the metamorphic symbolism of a butterfly. I take it to mean that while I, and the world around me, are and will always be moving and evolving from one stage to the next, I will stay ever true to myself. They say the only constant is change; I say that, and my soul. My tattoo will be there for the rest of my life, and where there is permanence, time is irrelevant. Thus while I am young, my butterfly is already old. How's that for an analysis.

This place is my outlet for random thoughts, ideas, questions, and occasionally answers. Having one has pushed me to do things I always wanted to do but found reasons to avoid, because it allows me to examine my life from the outside looking in. It's not meant to be a reader magnet--more of a personal log--but by all means, stay awhile. I love me some visitors.
